057: The Sacred Art of Finding Inspiration in the Ordinary

Table of Contents

Feeling stuck in your business or career is common. We've all been there.

But what if I told you the source of inspiration isn't "out there"? It's within you.

Thanks for reading Sacred Business Flow! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

This idea changed everything for me. And it can for you too.

Here's what I've learned:

  • You are inspiration itself
  • You are love itself
  • You are beauty

That's who you are at your core.

When we're not feeling inspired, it's not because of our job, our clients, or our circumstances.

It's because we've lost touch with that essential truth about ourselves.

The "Sacred Business" Approach

This aligns with what Carolina and I call the "Sacred Business" approach.

We believe true fulfillment comes from aligning our work with our deeper purpose and values.

It's about recognizing the interconnectedness of all aspects of our lives and businesses.

The Trap of External Solutions

When we feel stuck, our instinct is to look outside ourselves:

  • A new direction in our business
  • A different project
  • A change of scenery, traveling to an exotic location

But here's a powerful alternative:

Use your dissatisfaction as fuel for inner growth.

Instead of chasing external solutions, focus on changing yourself.

This isn't about settling. It's about recognizing your power to find meaning in any situation.

5 Ways to Shift Your Perspective

  1. Practice mindfulness: Be present with your tasks, even the mundane ones.
  2. Seek growth opportunities: What new skills can you develop in your without changing your entire circumstances?
  3. Connect with your purpose: Remember your "why". How does your work contribute to something larger?
  4. Embrace challenges: See obstacles as growth opportunities, not roadblocks.
  5. Cultivate gratitude: Regularly acknowledge the positive aspects of your work and life.

The Power of Inner Change

I believe this deeply: If we let go of our limited self-perceptions, we can find inspiration everywhere.

Everything becomes beautiful. We can't wait to engage with it.

Here is a quote by Michael Singer that I love:

"My formula for success was very simple: Do whatever is put in front of you with all your heart and soul without regard for personal results. Do the work as though it were given to you by the universe itself - because it was."

Is it easy? No. Is it worth it? Absolutely.

I've seen it in my own life and business. When I focus on changing myself rather than my circumstances, I find:

  • New levels of creativity
  • Increased productivity
  • Deeper fulfillment

And here's the thing: This inner change often leads to positive external changes too.

When we show up with enthusiasm and do our best work, opportunities tend to follow.

You're Not Alone

If you're struggling to feel inspired or aligned in your business, know this:

You're not alone.

It's a common challenge for entrepreneurs.

That's why Carolina and I are passionate about creating spaces where we can explore these concepts together.

We believe in building businesses that are not just profitable, but deeply fulfilling.

Let's Connect

I'd love to hear from you:

  • How do you find inspiration in your daily work?
  • What practices help you stay connected to your deeper purpose?

With love, Phil

Move to Substack

We recently moved our newsletter and content to Substack, and are very happy with the change! I’d love to write more on this subject and some of the reasons why I felt this was the right move, but for now I’ll share that this post by was a big part of the inspiration, along with a few other conversations I had with other smart marketers. Check out his work if you are curious about the possibility of leveraging Substack in your own business.

Who We Are Celebrating

Steve & Sarah Pirie-Nally

No photo description available.

This week we are celebrating Steve & Sarah Pirie on the official launch of Evolve X, a movement that reimagines how families, educators, and communities interact, learn, and grow together. Imagine a world where neurodiversity is not just included but celebrated, where multiple generations come together to share wisdom, and where education and connection are more playful, inclusive, and heart-centered than ever before.

I met Steve and Sarah many years ago and its been a joy to stay connected and watch as their work has evolved together. They are a great example of embodying the Sacred Business principle of everything is connected that we often talk about.

You can learn more about their work here.

Steve and Sarah are creating something that’s going to bring joy, creativity, and connection to every family, every community, and every generation. And YOU are part of this vision.

Here is what I want to share this week …

This essay by came across my feed at precisely the right moment earlier this week when I found myself really tangled up in my own thoughts about how things should be unfolding in my life and relationships. I love this quote:

"We're often so caught up in the quest to be loved, we forget the life-giving grace of giving love."

As Jonathan so deeply describes, by shifting our focus from being loved to loving others - we open ourselves up to a world of possibilities and avoid the true misfortune of not loving at all.

The curable ache of not loving.
I’m prepping for an interview, watching video, and happen to notice the guest has three French words tattooed on her left inner arm.

I recently came across this book by , and I really appreciate how practical it is as a step-by-step guide on how to love yourself. Everyone says “practice self-love”, or “you need to love yourself more”, but rarely does anyone actually show you how to do that. This is a book I wish I had found earlier in life, but am extremely grateful to have access to now.

3. A powerful exercise for self-acceptance

Unlock Your Inner Genius: A Powerful Exercise for Self-Acceptance
In this video, I share a powerful exercise that aligns perfectly with the principles of Sacred Business. This technique helps you achieve full self-acceptance and move forward with newfound clarity, confidence, and purpose - key elements in building a business that supports your lifestyle and fulfills your heart's desire.

Memorable Quote

“If you loved yourself truly and deeply, would you limit your life to what you previously thought possible? Nope. You’d blow your own socks off.” -
