WOM 015: THE HEART AS FEARLESS

Fear does not always roar. Sometimes it hides in the hum of your workday.

You open your laptop. The cursor blinks. The inbox fills. And suddenly, the mind begins its familiar chatter: You’re behind. You should be further along. You’re missing something important.

But if you stop for a moment and look closely, what is actually happening?

You are sitting in a chair. A screen glows before you. Hands rest on the keyboard. Breath moves in and out. The rest is thought.

Fear lives only in that projection, the mind rushing ahead or replaying the past. In truth, nothing has gone wrong. There is only awareness watching itself.

This realization changes everything about how we meet our work. The email you dread, the launch that feels uncertain, the next coaching call, none of it is happening anywhere but here. The heart becomes fearless not by overpowering fear, but by remembering there is nothing to defend against.

When I notice myself striving or tightening, I remember this. I take one breath and whisper, Only love is real. Sometimes the fear does not vanish right away, but it loses authority. I return to the simple act before me and let it be enough.

The fearless heart is not the one that never shakes. It is the one that keeps opening, moment by moment, to the truth already present.
